Indiana Retail Council History

The Indiana Retail Council was established in 1961 following the merger of two state retail associations, the Indiana Chain Store Council and the Association of Indiana Retailers.

Guided by a Board of Directors and member input, the Council is a tireless proponent of retailing and the retail community’s contributions to Indiana’s economic growth. Members range in size from independent stores to the largest national chains.

The Council significantly works to assist its members with their day-to-day business challenges. Services offered by the association contribute to a retailer’s bottom line and insure member compliance with state and federal laws.

Mission Statement

The Indiana Retail Council is committed to the needs of Hoosier retailers and works to enhance Indiana’s retail community and help ensure a stable business environment with economic growth.
